November 2, 2009 - Grande Prairie, AB #2 Event Review

Night number two of the Hansen Powersports Fire & Tour proved to be a time of redemption for Bellevue, Idaho’s Heath Frisby.  Having watched talented teammate Isaac Sherbine dominate the last two events, Frisby came to Canada Games Arena with his game face on.  And that spelled nothing but bad news for his competitors.

Round One of FSX competition started off with a high-quality ride by twenty-three year old Willie Elam.  The former Blair Morgan Racing Team member turned freestyler earned a score of 84 points for his acrobatic efforts.  Issac Sherbine was the second man to the floor and bumped the leader board up to 87 points.  Ted Culbertson earned 78 points, while Sam Rogers scored 86.  The man to marvel at, however, would be Heath Frisby.  The three-time X Games Bronze Medalist wowed the crowd with some incredible Heart Attacks and at the conclusion of Round One found himself the leader at 91 points.

Frisby would soar into Round Two with more intensity than ever.  The Alberta crowd rose to their feet as Frisby served up one of the coolest Holy Grabs in history.  The judges responded to Frisby’s wild antics with a score of 92 points.  Issac Sherbine offered up a huge Shaolin Barhop, earning him a score of 91 points.  Sam Rogers grabbed 87 points, while Willie Elam scored 85.  Ted Culbertson finished up with 80, bettering his Round One score by two points.

On this night, the stars of FSX would swap alliances for the Team Competition.  Willie Elam and Heath Frisby made quick friends and took to the air in a big way, earning the talented team a score of 88 points.  Not to be outdone, Isaac Sherbine and Sam Rogers paired up and won the Team Competition with 89 points.  The one point difference separating the two teams illustrates just how close this segment really was.

Going into the FSX Final, Isaac Sherbine knew he would be in tough.  Heath Frisby had been red-hot all night, and halfway through the competition each and every fan in the building knew that these two FSX stars were playing for keeps.  Sherbine used all sides of his sled during the final, ringing up his point total to an all-time Fire & Ice Tour high of 93 points.  The bar was set.  It was now Frisby’s opportunity to sink or swim.  Frisby took to the course like a fish to water and pulled off the wildest Holy Grab yet seen on the tour.  This insane trick earned Frisby the overall win with a score of 95 points.
