November 2, 2009 - Prince George, BC Event Review

As the doors opened at CN Centre on Sunday night, British Columbia Fire & Ice fans flooded in to the Meet & Greet to mix with the best Freestyle Snowcrossers on the planet.  Red-hot Canadian music act Social Code also participated in the Meet & Greet segment, giving people a chance to mingle with real-live rock stars.

Sponsored by Northland Dodge and Cycle North Powersports, tonight’s event proved to be arguably the most exciting yet on the young Fire & Ice Tour.  Spectacular tricks from all the riders combined with some interesting crashes made for a show that maintained its energy all night long.  Round One found competitors Isaac Sherbine and Heath Frisby atop the leader board with identical scores of 89 points.  Ted Culbertson tied Willie Elam at 85 points, while Sam Rogers ended Round One with a score of 84.

Round Two saw Sherbine kick things up a notch.  His score of 90 points was certainly well deserved as he gave the crowd a huge Shaolin Barhop.  Sam Rogers improved his Round One score by a full five points, generating a score of 89.  Heath Frisby checked in at third place with an 88-point effort, while Willie Elam scored 87.  Ted Culbertson finished with just 82 after hucking a Dead Sailor.

The Team Competition paired Sam Rogers with Heath Frisby, while Ted Culbertson jumped on Isaac Sherbine’s Side.  The battle was very close from start to finish, with Rogers pulling off an awesome Switchblade.  Teammate Heath Frisby would also be strong in this event, showing B.C. fans what a real Holy Grab is all about.  The judges offered up a score of 90 points for Rogers and Frisby, while the team of Sherbine and Culbertson managed just 88 points.

The Freestyle Snowcross Final would pit Isaac Sherbine against the high-flying Heath Frisby.  Coming off a win in Grande Prairie, Frisby had a taste of victory in his mouth and was not willing to wash it out too quickly.  Both riders were equally spectacular during their runs but a rare crash by Isaac Sherbine cost the Bellevue, Idaho rider dearly.  Although Sherbine was not hurt in the incident, his score certainly was.  Frisby took the FSX Final win with a score of 91 points, three more than the 88 earned by Sherbine.

As Social Code took to the stage, the stars of FSX re-emerged and took to the air.  Certainly one of the most spectacular occurrences took place during the playing of Social Code’s smash hit “Satisified”.  Sam Rogers landed hard and his throttle stuck in the open position.  Rogers met the hockey boards in a big way, and in fact flew right over them!  Fortunately, Rogers was not hurt in the incident, as he jumped up to wave to the appreciative crowd.

Spectacular tricks, huge air, wild crashes, and an awesome rock band all combined to make the Northland Dodge/Cycle North Powersports Fire & Ice Tour event a special one here in Prince George.  As this traveling show makes its way throughout Canada, there is no question that fans across this beautiful country will be in for a treat.
We’ll see you in Saskatoon!
