November 9, 2009 - Saskatoon, SK Event Review
The Wheaton GM Fire & Ice Tour kicked off at 6:00 P.M. sharp with the Meet & Greet. Wheaton GM featured many of their fine line of vehicles on the floor including a stunning 2010 Cadillac SRX.
At 7:30 P.M., it was time to show Saskatchewan fans what the exciting world of FSX was all about. The talented field of FSX riders in competition tonight included Willie Elam (Twin Falls, ID), Isaac Sherbine (Bellevue, ID), Ted Culbertson (Helena, MT), Heath Frisby (Bellevue, ID), and Sam Rogers (Billings, MT).
Round One of FSX Fire & Ice competition saw Isaac Sherbine lock horns with Heath Frisby. Both riders turned in a “rock solid” performance and the judges decided to grant these high-flying stars an equal score of 91 points. Sam Rogers scored 89, while Ted Culbertson earned 87. Willie Elam, competing on a borrowed sled, rounded out Round One scoring with 84 points.
Round Two is where Heath Frisby would begin to distance himself from the pack. Frisby pulled off an unbelievable ride that included a huge Holy Grab. His efforts were good enough for 93 points. Isaac Sherbine soared to a score of 90 points, while Ted Culbertson and Sam Rogers tied with 89 points each. Willie Elam scored 86 points to wrap up a thrilling Round Two.
Heath Frisby and Ted Culbertson joined forces in the Team Competition and showed the crowd some huge air antics including an awesome Kiss of Death from Culbertson. Frisby joined the party with a great Double Grab, netting the pair a competition-winning score of 86 points. Teammates Sam Rogers and Isaac Sherbine challenged hard but were only able to muster 84 points from the tough Fire & Ice judges.
The Wheaton GM FSX Final featured a couple of very familiar faces. Isaac Sherbine and Heath Frisby have been waging war the entire series and tonight would be no different. Sherbine was up first, and his routine included a great Shaolin Barhop and a Stripper. Sherbine showed great flexibility and control with his tricks and this netted the Bellevue, Idaho native a score of 92 points for his efforts.
It was quickly evident, however, that Heath Frisby was not interested in a mere 92 points. Frisby was simply unbelievable as he gave Saskatchewan fans a good look at his signature “Sideshow” maneuver. Just like Sherbine, Frisby is incredibly smooth and it is no wonder that this twelve-year FSX veteran is on top of his sport. As the crowd roared, the judges gave Frisby a score of 96 points, good enough for yet another Fire & Ice Tour victory.
The 2009 FSX Fire & Ice Tour now takes a bit of a breather before heading to Winnipeg, Manitoba on November 28th. There is no doubt that the beautiful new MTS Centre will be a busy place as Manitoba snowmobiling fanatics come out in droves for the most exciting show on the planet.
We’ll see you in the ‘Peg!
